Introduction
Cambridge Angels is a leading UK business angel network providing smart capital from entrepreneurs to entrepreneurs. We are a group of more than 60 high-net worth investors who have proven experience as successful entrepreneurs. Members invest in and mentor high quality start-up and early-stage companies in Cambridge, London, Oxford and throughout the UK.
Our members, most of whom are successful entrepreneurs, invest in a wide range of start-up and scale-up businesses with a particular focus on deep-tech, and tools and technologies supporting healthcare.
Our Members have been responsible for a large number of the “Cambridge Phenomenon” success stories over recent years. Therefore, in addition to providing funding for early-stage companies, Cambridge Angels also offer start-ups the considerable benefit of a wide range of expertise, contacts and directly relevant experience in establishing and growing entrepreneurial businesses successfully.
This is a unique opportunity to work with some of Europe's leading early-stage investors, sourcing and completing deals in innovative technology companies seeking global impact. We are seeking a maternity cover team member to join probably the most active Angel Investor group in Europe.
Are you someone who can help us to:
● ensure that we continue to provide excellent quality events for our members, guests and portfolio companies?
● provide administrative support and community management for our members to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the support team?
The role is based mainly in Cambridge, however there will be some travel to London to attend events. You will spend a lot of time working with some of the historic event venues in Cambridge and in London, and interacting with the Cambridge Angels members. You will have key responsibility for the successful delivery of our events, as well as providing an essential administrative support function. The role is quite diverse, so you need to be prepared for the unexpected and take it in your stride!
This will be a fixed term contract to provide maternity cover for our Events Manager. This contract is expected to begin in August 2023 and is expected to complete on or around August 2024. There will be a short probation period.
The role is fully remote but requires commitment to occasional early evenings for events. Hours may be adjusted to suit a reasonably flexible working schedule.
You will report to the Managing Director (MD) and the Board. The MD is responsible for developing the reach of Cambridge Angels to attract high quality opportunities and manages the membership to ensure that the Angels are able to focus on helping startup companies grow. You will help make this possible by ensuring that the membership and our ecosystem are given the opportunity to engage with each other at our events, and by assisting the MD to enhance our processes and run the administration efficiently.
If interested, please email emmi@cambridgeangels.net with your experience, qualifications for the role, your salary expectations and please let us know (briefly) why this role is of interest to you.

A New Approach to Reducing Food Waste – And Production Costs
Packaging has a key role to play in the drive to cut food waste and reduce production costs, as a good seal is crucial to help food products stay fresh for as long as possible. If a salad leaf gets caught up in the seal and is left sticking out of a packaged pasta salad, for example, it will breach the airtight seal and allow in oxygen – which will make the product spoil faster and lead to wastage, loss of revenue, and customer complaints.
